I love to knit. I love my new Gary Fisher bike. So I started thinking…how can I combine the two into an all-out LOVE fest, in honor (or in spite of) Valentine’s Day? Amanda and Craig are ridiculously cute. I knew they would love it up for the camera – after all, I’ve photographed them before! I couldn’t anticipate this kind of cuteness, though. We started in our neighborhood and moved on to the train yards in SE Portland…

I’ve shot in the train yard on multiple occasions when the trains go by, so I wasn’t concerned when I heard a few horns in the distance. We were off to the side of the tracks, no big deal.

But I think I had forgotten just how fast the Amtrak is. And how close we were to the tracks. So hopefully this gives you an idea of how I can be pushed to get my shot.

Oh sure – not so scary from the picture! But I can assure you…Amanda is not overreacting here, and when the Amtrak is barreling down a mere two feet from you, backed against an old building with all your gear, it’ll make you reconsider doing the whole ‘gritty industrial’ look for awhile.

Jeremy and I have been eating a whole foods diet for a few months now, and I was fortunate to find a farmer relatively close to my house where I can go to find fresh, raw milk. Occasionally she also has fresh eggs for sale as well, and I picked up some yesterday on my milk run. I love how these eggs are so naturally pretty – pale blues and greens. So lovely.
