I'm pretty excited to share this wedding with all of you. Kim and Rachel got married in August at the Haceta Head Lighthouse in Yachats, Oregon. To say it was a gorgeous day would be an understatement. These ladies responded to my Marriage Equality Giveaway last year, and I was beyond honored to be a part of their day.Read More

At every wedding I’m on the lookout for moments like these: moments of quiet between the couple, tiny moments of sweetness during the day that are shared just between the two of them, even though they may be surrounded by a hundred people.
Thanks for stopping by on Day 3 of my #31Day blogging challenge. I hope you enjoy a lovely fall weekend!Read More
So for Day 2 of my 31Day blogging challenge, I'd like to talk about kids at weddings, and why I am firmly in the pro camp.Read More
Today I'm starting a challenge called the 31 Days. I haven't been particularly good at blogging for a long time, and this year I've used my adorable baby boy Isaac as quite the scapegoat for being even worse at it. So there's nothing like a good challenge to get me going.
So for this first day, I'd like to show an image from Sarah and Blake's downtown Vancouver wedding which was earlier this year. One of my favorite times with my wedding clients is when I suggest we head away from the reception during golden hour. Usually this takes no more than 10-15 minutes, and we often walk away with some of my favorite images of the day. I like to think my clients love it too - a quiet few minutes away from the chaos of the reception; they've usually had a drink or two and their nerves have come down from the ceremony, and it's just the two of them (well, and me tagging along) alone as a newly married couple. Passersby congratulate them, and their faces still have that gorgeous post-wedding glow.
And during the summer, when the Pacific Northwest is in all its sunny glory, it's an essential for one more reason: I just can't get enough lens flare. I love the dreaminess, the magic, the romanticism of it. Some days are just so sunny and beautiful that I can't even be bothered to rein it in. So here you go. One of my favorite images from their day.
There's a new look around here. The site has long been in need of a refresh, and life just got in the way (hello, five-month-old baby!). But I hope you'll enjoy the new site!
I've said it before, and I'm sure to say it many times again: I love a backyard wedding. They are, hands-down, some of my all-time favorite weddings. There are no hurried deadlines from venues, and couples take advantage of that freedom (not to mention the cost-savings!) to go completely wild with creativity. Leah and Kyle's wedding, up in Longview, Washington, was no exception. The couple spent months accumulating adorable pieces to use as table decor, and worked with their entire family to update the beautiful grounds. It was stunning.
But it wasn't just about the details at this wedding. I am, first and foremost, always drawn to the people: it's what keeps me photographing weddings. There was so much palpable love and affection both between these two and amongst all of their friends and family that you just couldn't help but be caught up in it. As adorable and Pinterest-worthy as so many of the details are, that's always what I love about a wedding.
An adorable couple that spent the whole day laughing. The sweetest little tea-length wedding dress. A gorgeous farm in Washington. What's more to say? These two had a big wedding with lots of big emotions, and I was a total sucker for it. A couple that cracks themselves up during the ceremony? Who just can't believe how awesome it is that they found each other and get to have this experience? I love it.Read More
I love a backyard wedding - they're some of my favorite weddings I've ever photographed. I'm always blown away by my client's creativity, and the personal connection to the venue itself is always very powerful. In Elizabeth and Paul's Dallas wedding, you could see this all over their faces, and especially Elizabeth's parents faces, the whole day.Read More
What a gorgeous day, gorgeous setting, the loveliest, sweetest couple. These two put so much time and love into every detail of their day, and it was so much fun to capture it all. Nearly all of the decorations were sourced by the couple and their friends, and Christie even MADE her wedding dress. It was stunning!Read More
These two had me in stitches just about all day. The whole theme of the day was to have an amazing party with all of their friends and family, and did they ever pull it off. We started things off with the ceremony at the Madeleine church, a beautiful Catholic parish in NE Portland, before moving things downtown to party at the Crystal Ballroom. I haven't seen a crowd move this well in a long time. Talk about a great party!Read More
My my my, have I been remiss in blogging, and I've got a good one for you today. Back in June, Jeremy and I headed way down south to Southern Oregon near Crater Lake, to the teeny town of Ft. Klamath (seriously - there was no gas station), for the adorable love-fest that was Margi and Vince's wedding. It was a stunning spot in the Klamath valley, under gorgeous sunny skies and surrounded by mountains, the kind of venue I drool over.Read More
