On the heels of yesterday’s newborn photo post, let’s talk about family photos with slightly older children for today’s #31daysofblogging contribution.
Just like with newborn sessions, I love starting off family sessions in the home. This works so well for little ones under 2, like the adorable little boy featured above. They’re in their own environment, more relaxed , and it allows me to talk and interact with them on their level and make the big camera not as intimidating.
As with all of my portrait sessions, I want to get my clients interacting with each other. The best and most memorable moments with children aren’t the forced poses - they’re the silly laughs, the gummy grins, the intently-focused play. These are all things I love to capture, and photographing in the home is an easy way to facilitate that.
And, of course, since this is the Pacific Northwest, shooting in the home means no rescheduling due to rain!
