Emily+Eric:Engaged::Peninsula Park, Portland

I love these two! I’ll admit it – I’m a sucker for PDA-filled shoots, and these two are just so clearly smitten with each other. Weirdly, I met Emily *years* ago when I was still in college, up in Portland visiting my sister. Emily was friends with my sister, and we all went to see the Sea and Cake in concert. Years later, after multiple moves across the country on both of our ends, she finds me while planning her wedding without realizing that she knew my sister. Small world time, folks.

Emily chose Peninsula Park for their engagement shoot, and I have to say that it’s one of my new favorite places in town. I think I might even like it better than…gasp! The big rose garden in Washington Park! It’s just so lovely and old fashioned and European flavored, and it was just exploding in color at the end of June.
These two are getting married next month on the beach in Manzanita – can’t wait!

Alexis+Jon::Engaged

Alexis and Jon are so great, so laid-back, and have a completely adorable dog Leroy, who did his best to steal the show during our engagement session in Oregon City. Alexis and Jon live in the neighborhood and found a great park high above the bluffs overlooking the Willamette…gorgeous! Can’t wait for their wedding in Hood River later this month…

Mandy+Brad:: Engaged

Mandy and Brad were actually my first couple to book a 2010 wedding, so right off the bat they’re special to me! We had a fun time wandering around the Saturday market area last Sunday (yes, it runs Sundays too, out-of-towners!). I *always* seem to forget how crazy it gets down there on nice days, but Mandy and Brad were real troopers, and we managed to find some quiet spots amid the chaos. Looking forward to their Memorial Day weekend wedding!

Tricia + Kendon:: Engaged!

I love these two! Tricia has been doing my hair for about a year and a half (go see her at Blu a Salon…she rocks), and I was so excited when she and Kendon got engaged, and so excited when she asked me to do an engagement shoot. They’re such a sweet couple and even though we had to work quickly to avoid the rain (ahh Portland in March. Glorious!), I had a great time.

Ben and Melanie: Engagement Session

Last week I had the pleasure of photographing Ben and Melanie for their engagement shoot (and my first engagement shoot of the year!). We started off on a drizzly January day at Overlook Park in North Portland and then moved down to the Eastside Esplanade to walk along the river. I don’t use my Lensbaby very often on portrait sessions, but happened to bring it along almost as an afterthought this time; I ended up wanting to use it quite a bit during our session. It’s funny how that happens sometimes.

I had the pleasure of shooting Jon and Liz’s engagement shoot at the end of July, which was so much fun, so I was pretty excited to shoot their recent wedding at the Kennedy School. Great venue, fantastic jazz music, and the celebration of a very sweet couple. Congrats!

Saturday I met up with Jon and Liz, who are getting married at the end of August. They’re such a sweet couple and I really enjoyed our shoot, walking around the Park blocks and over to Tanner Springs park. They’ll be getting married at the Kennedy School in a couple weeks and I can’t wait to shoot it!

Heidi+David: Engaged!

Heidi and David are dear friends getting married in September in Ohio. I’m so excited for their wedding, but since I’ll be on bridesmaid duty, I wanted a chance to photograph them before the big day. As luck would have it, the two made an impromptu trip out to Portland and were game. We had a great time hanging out and shooting at the Ace Hotel, Powell’s, and throughout the Pearl district.

Claire + Jason: Eastside Esplanade

Claire and Jason never had an engagement shoot, as they decided to get all crazy and elope, giving me only three days’ notice to attend their wedding (a very cute do in Laurelhurst park). So I decided it was high time we took some faux-engagement pictures of them. I have to give serious props to Jason, for not at all conveying in his face that his bag had been stolen right before we left for the shoot. You are a committed, professional model, my friend.
