Melanie+Ben::Wedding at Vibrant Table Loft

Melanie and Ben had a gorgeous, laid-back brunch wedding back in June. I started off the morning joining Melanie and the ladies at Green Salon, where they were all busy getting ready, and after a few pictures, we headed off to Vibrant Table Loft in SE Portland for the wedding.

Melanie wore a beautiful and quietly elegant Jenny Yoo gown…

The delicious and beautiful cake from my favorite Cuban restaurant, Pambiche!

Melanie’s niece, Myra, acted as flower girl, and was quite the scene-stealer throughout the day…

Just across the street from Vibrant Table is a great Mexican restaurant; I couldn’t help but get these two in front of the bright and colorful murals.

I love these two! I’ll admit it – I’m a sucker for PDA-filled shoots, and these two are just so clearly smitten with each other. Weirdly, I met Emily *years* ago when I was still in college, up in Portland visiting my sister. Emily was friends with my sister, and we all went to see the Sea and Cake in concert. Years later, after multiple moves across the country on both of our ends, she finds me while planning her wedding without realizing that she knew my sister. Small world time, folks.

Emily chose Peninsula Park for their engagement shoot, and I have to say that it’s one of my new favorite places in town. I think I might even like it better than…gasp! The big rose garden in Washington Park! It’s just so lovely and old fashioned and European flavored, and it was just exploding in color at the end of June.
These two are getting married next month on the beach in Manzanita – can’t wait!

Emily+Ben::June 12 wedding at the Ecotrust Building

Finally, summertime! In the midst of gross weather in Portland this summer, there was this glorious sunny day in June, perfect weather for Emily and Ben’s rooftop wedding at the Ecotrust building in Portland’s Pearl District. This was the same location my husband and I chose for our wedding almost two years ago, so it’s near to my heart. It was a lovely ceremony filled with personal touches and stories about the bride and groom, who have known each other since they were in elementary school. So many of my couples have had personal friends act as officiants, and I have to say that I really love it. It makes the ceremony so personal and unique. As the sun set everyone enjoyed dinner and drinks, and a small pack of friends hit the dance floor to bring home the night…

Mandy+Brad::May 29 Portland / Vancouver Wedding

The rains again held off and it was a beautiful afternoon for Mandy and Brad’s wedding. The day was full of sweet, meaningful moments – from Mandy’s father officiating the ceremony at their church in Portland, to hearing details of how Nebraska-raised Brad fell for good country girl Mandy. A pilot, Brad has a great love for old airplanes, so the Pearson Air Museum in Ft. Vancouver, the oldest operating air field in the U.S., was a perfect choice for their reception.

I’m continually drawn to children at weddings…they have a beautiful sense of awe and wonder for the bride and the groom. The kids at this event definitely thought Mandy looked like a princess.

The look on this little boy’s face just kills me…how adorable!

Alexis+Jon::Hood River wedding, Part II

Bride and Groom portraits are always one of my favorite parts about any wedding. The setting around the Crag Rats Hut in Hood River was just breathtaking, and we set off for the nearby orchards, Hasselblad in tow.

Alexis+Jon::Crag Rats Hut, Hood River, Part I

Alexis and Jon are one of my practical couples, and I love them for it. Their wedding, despite being somewhat of a ‘destination wedding’ for just about everyone involved (okay, so Hood River is only an hour out of Portland, but still), managed to be relaxed and casual, just like they wanted. They chose the Crag Rats Hut, home to the group of the same name that serves Mt. Hood and the Gorge as a volunteer search rescue agency. The views from the panoramic hut are just gorgeous, even though the clouds never did quite clear around Mt. Hood.

I should also mention…I have a serious crush on their dog, Leroy. Just like in their engagement session, Leroy did his best to steal the show throughout the ceremony.

I love Alexis’ expression here…these two are seriously so giddy in love.

Alexis hired a fantastic alt-country band out of Hood River, and this kid had some unstoppable moves…

Colleen+Tim: Wedding – Abernethy Center, Oregon City

There was a lot of hand-wringing and sky-watching the morning of Colleen and Tim’s wedding, as we were just getting into the late May/”June-uary” weather spell that’s left most of the Pacific Northwest wondering what we did to be punished with all this rain. Both of them very much wanted to hold their ceremony in the beautiful outside gardens of the Abernethy Center, instead of inside in one of the ballrooms. At some point, everyone just had to trust that it would hold off, and what a payoff! We even had 10 minutes of lovely sun during the ceremony; just a perfect touch. After a sweet, touching ceremony (goodness, I was even tearing up!), everyone headed inside to celebrate and share the love, even as the rain started pouring down shortly after.

K+M::Sneak Peak: Rehearsal Dinner

Prior to last Thursday night, I’d never had the chance to meet Kalisa and Mitch in person. Living in Minneapolis, we handled everything over the phone and email for their destination wedding on Mt. Hood. I can’t say enough how excited I was to work with these two. They put on a beautiful and stylish wedding full of love and laughter. While I keep cracking on all of the photos from their wedding day, here’s a sneak peak from the night before at their rehearsal dinner at an amazing home in Hood River, OR.
